Zhang Shanming Led a Delegation to the First Meeting of China-Britain Civil Nuclear Task Force

From January 22 to 24, the first meeting of China-Britain civil nuclear task force and the China-Britain civil nuclear cooperation forum were held in London. CGN General Manager Zhang Shanming led a delegation to the meeting, during which the Deputy General Manager Zheng Dongshan briefed the attendees on the plan to develop the British nuclear power market and information on “Hualong 1”, generation III nuclear power technology independently developed by CGN.

China-Britain civil nuclear task force, a civil nuclear cooperation mechanism at senior executive level between the energy departments of China and Britain, was established according to the Memorandum on Enhancing the Cooperation in Civil Nuclear between China and Britain signed on October 17, 2013. Hao Weiping, Nuclear Power Department Director of National Energy Administration and Hergen Haye, Head of New Nuclear of Department of Energy and Climate Change co-chaired the task force meeting and the cooperation forum, attended by government authorities, industry association and enterprise representatives of the two countries.

During their stay in London, Zhang Shanming called on Chinese ambassador to Britain Liu Xiaoming, British Commercial Secretary to the Treasury Lord Deighton, Permanent Secretary for the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change Stephen Lovegrove and related members of parliament. He also visited the Hinkley Point new build NPP site.
